Create a Sew In Love Wedding

One of my favorite wedding blogs, Green Wedding Shoes, posted pictures from an incredible handmade Sew in Love Wedding a few years ago. Since June is the most popular month for weddings in the USA, the season is upon us, and I wanted to share it with you. I have a few comments, but the pictures will do most of the talking!

Sew in Love invite

The invitation, also displayed at the wedding, was a wonderful preview for the Sew in Love Wedding theme. Do you have buttons from Grandma’s button box? Include Grandma in the décor!

Sew in Love Wedding pincushion favor

Table favors included a pincushion at each place setting. To make these easy, cut circles of fabric, run a gathering stitch around the edge and stuff with walnut hulls or rice. Add felt leaves at the top and bottom and stitch all the way down through the center. A functional, handmade memento of your Sew In Love Wedding day!

Sew in Love Wedding table runner

Fabulous bold, painted canvas table runners highlighted the charming centerpieces. The painted chevrons look cool, but I would definitely go with purchased fabric. Just cut the length and width you want plus two inches on each side for hems. Turn under half an inch all the way around, press, then turn under again and stitch.

Sew in Love Wedding seating chart

The bride inherited a collection of wooden thread spools that her talented mother fashioned into a lovely seating chart. If you don’t happen to have a collection, use what you do have and ask around. You may find friends, and family willing to share. And, look at the giant “thread” spools in the grass. So clever!

Sew in Love Wedding tin can vases

I love, love, love this! Little bits of lace and ribbon glued around tin cans make charming handmade Sew in Love Wedding vases.

Sew in Love Wedding dress forms

When my son and daughter-in-law married, she thoughtfully wrote thank you notes to those who had helped make the day a success and attached them to the bottom of the small, lighted trees she used down the aisle. The trees were presented at the end of the day and I treasure mine still. The adorable Sew in Love dress forms could serve a similar purpose.

Sew in Love Wedding fabric strip banner

The fabric strip banner is so simple and sweet! This would be a fun thing to get the children in the family involved in as the strips are just quickly knotted over twine and color order doesn’t matter.

Sew in Love Wedding yarn globes

Balls of stiffened yarn added a delightful pop of color here and there throughout this Sew in Love Wedding. I found a tutorial for an easy way to make these fun globes on another of my fave wedding blogs, Ruffled, where they were shown as a chandelier. Fabulous!!! Click here.

Sew in Love Wedding cake

What an amazing cake topper! Use wedding colors or the colors the bride and groom will be wearing. A tiny paper banner with the couples names would be cute, too.
