How Do We Make Thread?

Coat & Clark has been making thread for almost 200 years! Much has changed and much has stayed the same since that first cotton thread was spun in Paisley, Scotland!

The editors of American Patchwork and Quilting came to us and asked us to show them the process of threadmaking and they were amazed at the complexity. After touring our facilities in Marion, North Carolina and Toccoa, Georgia, they put together a comprehensive article which will appear in the May/June 2010 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

In addition, they compiled a slide show which you can view now and see just what it takes to get the thread that you are using on that little round spool!

Thank you so very much for this article! As a professional quilter for over 30 years I am always surprised by the number of quilters that do not give their thread more thought! They have no idea how quality varies and how best to use it off the spool!
So its always GREAT to see a company such as yours setting the record straight! Having used your thread for years, exclusively on my Fairfield garments, I can attest to the quality of YOUR brand!
