Quilted Table Runner
Red, white and blue triangles dance down the length of this delightful table runner. Decking the table is a must for Patriotic Decor! Carole of the My Carolina Home blog lays out nicely illustrated sewing and pressing steps that will make this runner lots of fun to stitch. Working with a 12” finished block, Carole used a special ruler to cut triangles from 4-1/2” strips. If you don’t have the ruler, any star block could be used! In her first post, she gives great tips for cutting and assembling your reds, whites and blues. Post number two includes finishing instructions plus terrific hints about the importance of measuring carefully for your borders. Carole topped off her table runner with a festive fireworks style quilting design. It really pops in the variegated thread she chose. Coats Multi-Color Cotton Machine Quilting Thread would be perfect! Click here for the Patriotic Table Runner tutorial.
Stars & Stripes Wall Banner
This striped Patriotic Decor banner really sparkles in it’s stunning red, white and blue combo! You’ll start by working with the half square triangle portion of Sarah and Ella’s Half Square America Craftsy block pattern. Following the directions on their SariElla blog, you’ll learn how to angle cut and create the shining banner. The original block is charming and you’ll enjoy using it for other creations, too. Sara and Ella give nicely detailed instructions well worth the nominal price of their pattern. You can “tea stain” the dowel using their directions or devise a different method for hanging your fabulous new decor! Click here for the Stars & Stripes Wall Banner tutorial.
Patchwork Flag Pillow
Quilt as you go and strips of red, white and blue fabric create this marvelous bit of Patriotic Decor! Becky of the Patchwork Posse blog used an easy spray adhesive method to assemble the strips and secure the layers for stitching. Choose your pillow front piecing fabrics along with batting and muslin for the backing, then enjoy Becky’s well thought-out steps. It’s a great way to try out quilt-as-you-go while assembling the strips and practice a little fusible applique for the white star! Click here for The Patchwork Flag Pillow tutorial.

If you’re looking for a fairly quick Patriotic Decor project, the pillow designed by Nicole from the Modern Handcraft blog is a great fit. Shared on the Sewing Rabbit blog, Nicole’s bright pillow is a scrappy delight in red, white and blue! For an 18” x 18” pillow, you can purchase fat quarters or use your own leftover fabrics. You’ll also need coordinating fabric for the back, matching thread and a little fusible fleece.
