Super Easy DIY Tic-Tac-Toe Set

DIY Tic-Tac-Toe pieces. Just another lickity-split project made of Phoomph!

Nothing beats a quick game of tic-tac-toe! But why would you settle for a quickly sketched game board or (worse!) a plastic store bought board when you could enjoy your own handmade craftiness? In my ongoing journey to find more and more uses for my crafting love, Phoomph, I’ve whipped up this excellent little tutorial. Get ready for hours of fun with your littles, let’s get started!

DIY Tic-Tac-Toe pieces. Just another lickity-split project made of Phoomph!

Pencil, or water-soluble marker

Fine tip permanent marker

Phoomph (at least 2 sheets)

Printable Template: tictactoe

Neutral fabric for the squares

2 Contrasting fabrics for the “X’s” and “O’s”

Step 1: Peel of the paper layers one at a time and apply your neutral fabrics to the front and back of your Phoomph.

Step 2: Using a pencil or water-soluble marker, mark out 3”x 3” squares across your phoomph and cut out. You will need a total of 10 squares.

Step 3: Tape your printable template to a tracing table or sunlit window. Peel off one side of the Phoomph paper (For the X’s and O’s) and trace the letters onto the paper backing.

Note: I would try to keep the X’s on one half of the paper and the O’s on the other if you want to do different fabrics for each.

Step 4: Re-apply the paper backing to the Phoomph tracing’s up, and your fabric choices to the other side of the Phoomph, being careful to avoid any bumps or wrinkles in the fabric.

Step 5. Carefully cut out the letters.

Step 6: Once you’re done cutting out, peel the paper backing off the Phoomph and stick the letters onto one side of each square.

Now you’re ready to play!
